Self-Containment Requirements (Regulation 13)

To be certified as self-contained, a vehicle must be equipped with all of the following:

  1. Fresh Water Supply System

    • A system that stores and conveys potable water securely and prevents contamination.

  2. Fixed Toilet

    • A fixed toilet that collects human waste hygienically inside the vehicle. Portable toilets no longer qualify for Green warrant certification, unless under transitional provisions or specific circumstances.

  3. Wastewater System

    • Greywater and blackwater systems that securely collect and store wastewater.

  4. Sink

    • A sink installed safely and draining to the wastewater tank.

  5. Water Filling Point

    • A secure method of loading (refilling) fresh water that avoids contamination.

  6. Waste Disposal Means

    • A hygienic way to dispose wastewater at an appropriate external outfall.

  7. Rubbish Storage

    • Secure containment for rubbish (e.g., a sealed bin).

  8. Ventilation

    • A ventilation system that removes odours from the vehicle and ventilates wastewater tanks to the exterior, minimising foul air inside.
